It'd be real nice to compile the various media on my system into some sweet project bay libraries. THough atm, seems like it's actually a bit of an endevour to do that. Any tips for smoothly, logically and quickly compiling Bays of\for sample libraries songs and projects movies and albums to start I guess every time I open project I should save current bay to it's own, named bay.
I am looking forward to using them but even though Schwa says they won't change file format again I'm leaving it a little while! ;) (well at least to I get stuck into my next video based project) ;)
I'm waiting to see what is added to the Media Explorer as I'd prefer to use that. I'll probably start organizing once v4 final is out as I'd hate to put in all the work and have the format change, or a new feature added that makes the process 10x faster.

one thing gpunk that I find useful about the project bay that is different about previewing\databasing media in the Media explorer, is that the project bay lets you assemble libraries from different paths. To me this is different from the ME way of relating to media, which databases directories directly. So you could have a folder of all the "whoosh" sounds, which may come from many different folders, though they'd all be compiled in one Bay. As for how you locate all your whoosh sounds is another matter (I do an osx spotlight type search to get all media with a certain name, and then drag and drop to PB) that's to me the fundalmental difference, is the the ME is just that, an explorer, whereas the PB is a place to pool media based on certain criteria. Now one could say, that the ME could do that as well, and hence things would be more streamlined, though supposedly reason why this hasn;t been done/ Which is fine, though I do agree the lack of an overview is crippling compared to what the ME offers, so there is room for improvement IMO anyway, oh ya, notice the root paths of the media in the top bay, and the nested heirchies of bays in the bay list. And dont forget drag and drop from bay to bay, REALLY handy for creating pallets of samples, and temporary directories for editing\creating sound banks, Uploaded with

As soon as you change anything in the bays, ALWAYS SAVE YOUR BAYS, because Reaper will not do that for you, nor will it ask you to if you close a bay window or close the project. This is a bit of a bummer, which I'm sure to mention again in the Project Bay thread, but it's worth repeating to users who want to try to get the most out of the bays. Second, don't make those bays too big. Why? Reaper checks the availability of all files of all open bays when it starts up. And that takes a long time, depending on how many files there are.
Perhaps a auto save tick box would be best as I have found it handy to have a few temp bays for making certain jobs easier without having to do stuff over and over again.
