Hi, I have to replace the door trim rubber molding on the outside of the door on our 940. I have the molding and the 7 new clips to fit it. However I can't seem to fit the clips to the molding. They are a white plastic clip which should fit into a metal track on the back of the rubber molding. Is there a tool to use to fit them or do you put the clips onto the door and then offer up the trim molding and smack it on? I tried this way but with no luck. What am I doing wrong? It must be simple surely.
I understand that some force is needed, but do I fit the clips to the trim molding and then to the car, or the clips to the car and then the molding to the clips.

Oh, sorry, no, fit them to the trim first, use a flat head screw driver or something, or if you can wait a week or 2 i'll be in bangor at some point, i'll give you a hand with it
Cheers. No hurry, off to france next week for 11 days, not in the 940 but in a 944. If I get a chance I will try again early next week and let you know how I get on.
No Just the one Volvo, the 944 is a 1992 Porsche 944 S2. Floods is now closed. We have had a 244, a 122S, a 244DL, a 245 estate, a 760 and now the 940 SE turbo. Just love old Volvos.
Fitted a new trim about a year ago and as far as I remember there was a cut out in the rail you put the clips in the cutout and slide them allong to the aproximate position then line them up with the holes in the door and just give them a good smack with the palm of your hand to get the clip to seat fully in the hole. just work your way along adjusting the clip positions as you go .
