OK, kickdown is controlled by the ECUs, not the pedal stop on the floor, which is what I take it you're referring to. It all depends on current road and engine speed, engine load, how far you depress the accelerator, how quickly you depress it and which auto box mode you're in, amongst other things. A sharp press of the accelerator should be enough to kickdown. I can't remember ever having to put my foot to the floor to get my 850 to move. Your kickdown switch may be faulty, but I believe this is an integral part of the accelerator cable and is mounted on the bulkhead where the accelerator cable enters the cabin. First thing is to get the autobox fault codes pulled, there may be an indicator there.

thanks for the reply. the auto box is working sweet but the full throttle kick down should happen for overtaking for example in both sport and economy mode. the oil is at correct level and in good condition. i will check the switch on the bulkhead and let you know.

Yes, but it will differ. In Economoy mode it will normally drop a gear, whereas in Sport mode it will drop a couple if conditions permit. The point I was making that it should kickdown long before hitting the floor stop. Check the codes out as well.

What You Are Saying Is True But It Works Like My Old Mercedes 300te Estate Where There Is A Switch For Full Throttle. In Economy Mode The Box Changes Gear At Low Revs, In Sport Mode The Box Changes Gear In Higher Revs And In Both Sport And Economy The Engine Revs To Just Below Redline Before Gear Changes When The Full Throttle Switch Is Activated. If I Am Wrong In What I Am Saying Please Can Some One Explane Why Mine Is Working Like I Say.

Until any fault codes are pulled you can only guess as to why it's not kicking down consistently. It's more likely a sensor problem than a gearbox problem
